The path in seven days

Before something new begins, what is true has to be named.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

Frederick Douglass1818–1895

The historical background

Douglass was born into slavery, learned to read in secret and escaped north at 20 – with borrowed papers and no idea whether he would still be free the next day.

The way into the light

He became the most celebrated orator of his era, an adviser to presidents and the publisher of his own newspaper. His first new beginning consisted of a single step off a train.

Your question for today

What is the one thing you have not admitted to yourself yet?
